Islamabad, Sep 9: Amara Athar, the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore, has declared a crackdown on motorcycle riders who do not possess a valid driver’s license. Motorcyclists who are caught driving without a license will be fined and have their vehicles seized until they provide a legitimate license.

If caught in violation, motorbike owners would pay a fee of Rs. 2,000 and have their vehicles impounded until they produce the required paperwork. The official urged the public to follow the legal procedure and highlighted that getting a motorcycle license costs Rs. 930.

In addition, learner permits no longer have a 42-day validity period, therefore motorcyclists must now obtain a full license before operating a motorcycle on public highways. Ten driving license testing locations have been established throughout the city to help the general population.

Over 500,000 residents have used the traffic department’s license services thus far this year. This program is a component of a larger effort to raise road safety and guarantee that traffic laws are followed in Lahore.
