Beginning with the 2024–2025 academic year, the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore has chosen to prolong the duration of its Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program from four years to five years.
A new integrated curriculum that is modular is part of this transformation. Under the direction of UHS Vice-Chancellor Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore, the 48th meeting of the UHS Board of Studies in Dentistry endorsed this decision.
On June 26, the UHS Board of Governors, presided over by Justice (retired) Sheikh Ahmad Farooq, authorized a budget of Rs2,428 million for the fiscal year 2024–25. The yearly development plan is budgeted at Rs241.9 million, staff wages are allocated Rs888.4 million, and research and scholarships total Rs82 million.
Additionally granted was a 25% raise in employee pay as an ad hoc hardship allowance.
Additionally, the budget allots Rs. 10 million for bereaved employee families’ financial support, Rs. 65 million for lab supplies, Rs. 50 million for campus infrastructure improvements, and Rs. 250 million for testing.
It is important to note that UHS administers more than 750 tests annually.
