Islamabad, Sep 5: The Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS), the Centre for Economic Research in Pakistan (CERP), and the Aga Khan University Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) collaborated to organize the Collaborative Symposium on Climate Change and Health & Development Consequences in Pakistan: Challenges and Opportunities. Experts, decision-makers, and interested parties gathered at the Pakistan Academy of Sciences in Islamabad to talk about the increasing effects of climate change on Pakistan’s health, agriculture, and economic stability.

The symposium’s main guest, Honorable Minister Ahsan Iqbal, underlined:
“Politicians, judges, or any other institution cannot solve climate change on their own. The scientific and technology community has the answer, and encouraging a multidisciplinary approach is a top government goal.

Pakistan’s major climatic issues, such as air pollution, water scarcity, and inefficient agriculture, were discussed at the symposium. Experts talked about the pressing need for long-term fixes to protect communities at risk and the country’s future growth. The occasion also emphasized the significance of structural modifications that take indigenous knowledge into account and cutting-edge technologies like drone photography and GIS monitoring.

In order to address climate change, a coordinated, evidence-based strategy with an emphasis on governance and research was called for at the symposium’s conclusion. The joint endeavors of IGHD, PAS, and CERP are intended to propel revolutionary measures for addressing the climate emergency and constructing a sustainable future for Pakistan.
