ISLAMABAD, JULY13: The US State of Georgia’s House of representatives Friday adopted a resolution commending the “dedicated, efficient, and effective” service of Ambassador Masood Khan, the outgoing Pakistani envoy to the United States, in strengthening US-Pak relations.The resolution (844) was jointly moved by five leading Congressmen, including Farooq Mughal, who is of Pakistani origin, James Beverly, Carl Wayne Gilliard, Mike Cheokas and Clay Pirkle.

“Ambassador Khan is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and he has served with honour and distinction, and his vision and unyielding commitment to excellence have set the standard for public service; and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished individual be appropriately recognized,” the resolution said.

The shared efforts Congressman Farooq Mughal and Ambassador Masood Khan to put in place a solid foundation of deep and multifaceted economic ties between Pakistan and Georgia culminated into a landmark Sister-State resolution in the State Assembly in March 2023, the resolution noted. It stated that “a sister-state relationship between the State of Georgia and the Province of Sindh would promote mutual trade and commerce and increase the potential for educational, environmental, and cultural relations between the Province of Sindh and the State of Georgia.”

Expressing his gratitude to the State Assembly and its people, especially Congressmen Mughal, Beverly, Gilliard, Cheokas and Pirkle, Ambassador Masood Khan said that he was deeply impressed by the massive strides being made by Georgia towards strengthening its economy and overall ranking among the U.S. states.

He said that the sister-state relations between Sindh and Georgia provides a framework for pursuing mutually beneficial partnerships, both in public and private domains, in critical areas of trade, investment, environment, education, culture and people to people exchanges.

Masood Khan also paid tributes to Pakistani-American community in Georgia for making their mark with their positive contributions towards Georgia. He expressed the hope that the partnership between Georgia and Pakistan would be further strengthened in the days to come for the benefit of the people of two sides.
