Islamabad, Oct 1; Virat Kohli has set yet another record, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar by becoming the fastest cricketer to reach 27,000 international runs.

He achieved this feat during the fourth day of the 2nd Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur, taking only 594 innings to do so. Kohli’s innings saw him score 47 runs off 35 balls before being dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan.

The previous record for the fastest to 27,000 runs was held by Tendulkar, who accomplished it in 623 innings. Kohli is now the only player to reach this milestone in under 600 innings.

Comparatively, Ricky Ponting and Kumar Sangakkara needed 650 and 648 innings, respectively, to reach the same mark.

In his career, Virat Kohli has amassed 13,906 runs in ODIs, 8,918 in Test matches, and 4,188 in T20Is before retiring from the format.

At the time of writing, India is just 30 runs away from winning the match, which would also secure a 2-0 series victory against Bangladesh.

Kohli continues to add to his achievements, having already surpassed Tendulkar with 50 ODI centuries last year.

Indian batters played attacking cricket in the first essay as openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma set the tone of India’s quickfire response at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur after bundling out Bangladesh for 233 in the second session.

Taking to X, Vaughan wrote, “I see India are playing Bazball” as he compared India’s onslaught to England’s Bazball approach.
