Islamabad, Sep 5: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) for electricity theft against a deceased individual in Tehsil Gambat, Khairpur. The case, filed under the Electricity Act, names Ghulam Rasool, who passed away three years ago, as the accused.

At the Gambat police station, SDO Umar Pathan filed the first police report in coordination with the local authorities. The local community is outraged and confused by this action, which raises fundamental questions about the filing’s procedures and objectives.

Residents in the area have expressed their outrage and displeasure over the occurrence, claiming that SDO Umar Pathan uses his position to intimidate people into not paying bribes.

They contend that filing a case against a deceased person is not just a serious mistake but also a sign of more widespread problems with power abuse and corruption at the local WAPDA office.

Residents have demanded accountability and openness from WAPDA and the police, as well as an investigation into the situation.

In order to stop such incidents from happening in the future, the incident has also highlighted the necessity for more control and checks within the system.

Neither WAPDA nor the police have released an official statement as of yet responding to the accusations or providing an explanation for the error. Public displeasure and requests for action have increased as a result of the lack of response.
