Islamabad, Aug 26: Only a few days after being appointed, former Pakistan cricket star Waqar Younis is reportedly resigning from his role as Advisor of Cricket Affairs to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

This unexpected move comes amid resistance within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), with some officials feeling hesitant to collaborate with the former fast bowler, particularly from the International Cricket Department.

Waqar’s stint at the PCB office was brief, as he was not observed there for several days after his joint press conference with Chairman Naqvi.

Sources indicate that his decision to resign may have been significantly influenced by the top PCB officials’ lack of collaboration, even though the precise reasons for his leaving are yet unknown.Although there have been rumors to the contrary, Waqar’s decision is not thought to be related to Pakistan’s recent defeat against Bangladesh in the Rawalpindi Test.

Instead, the PCB is expected to look for someone to take over the advisory role as a job advertisement for the role was recently published. Waqar may also take on a mentoring role for a team in the upcoming Champions Cup, which starts next month. As the situation unfolds, the cricketing world will be closely watching what the legendary pacer has to say.
