ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 15: MD WASA Khalid Raza told that WASA and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) inked a Memorandum of Understanding for large-scale initiatives to address urban floods.
As a result of the agreement, the Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) will get funding totaling $10 billion to start projects in various districts to address the root cause of urban floods.
In the presence of DG MDA, Country Director of KOICA, and Special Secretary Housing Punjab, the Memorandum of Understanding on Record of Discussion was signed in Lahore.
According to the DG, a master plan would be developed as part of the agreement to prevent urban flooding in the district and surrounding areas.
It was stated that underground water tanks will be constructed in the city’s low-lying neighborhoods to prevent flash floods during periods of intense rain.
According to him, the initiative will be crucial to WASA’s capacity growth.
He claimed that a large-scale development plan to raise the level of living in the area was ready to be implemented with the assistance of a friendly nation. He determined that in addition to addressing the problem of urban floods, it would also aid in resolving ongoing issues that were arising in the region.
