Islamabad, Sep 15: WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature for its Android beta users that simplifies the process of transferring community ownership.
Previously, transferring ownership of a WhatsApp community involved a cumbersome procedure that required creating a new community and asking members to migrate, often leading to confusion and potential loss of members.
The newly introduced feature allows community owners to transfer leadership more efficiently. Users of WhatsApp beta version 2.24.19.34 will now find an “Assign new owner” button under the community settings.
This function enables the current owner to designate another member as the new community leader, transferring full admin privileges to them with just a few clicks.
Once the ownership transfer is complete, the original owner will no longer have the authority to make major decisions such as disabling the community or preventing the new owner from making changes.
This update aims to streamline community management and ensure a smoother transition of leadership roles within WhatsApp groups.
The feature is currently available to select beta testers who have downloaded the WhatsApp beta app from the Google Play Store.
Furthermore, improvements are being made to group call functionalities, including the ability for admins to generate call links directly from group chats. WhatsApp is also introducing a custom list feature that will appear at the top of chat lists, making it easier for users to locate specific chats or groups.
