Islamabad, Oct 8: WhatsApp introduces feature similar to Instagram Stories

Meta’s messaging platform, WhatsApp, is preparing to roll out a new feature akin to Instagram Stories, enabling users to tag or mention others in their Status updates.

According to the tech site Gagadget, this upcoming feature will allow users to privately tag and mention others in their WhatsApp Status, setting it apart from Instagram, where anyone can view the people mentioned in Stories.

Additionally, users who are privately mentioned will have the option to reshare a status if they choose. WhatsApp will limit the number of tagged users to five in a single Status update.

The platform is also working on introducing a one-tap “like” feature for Status updates, similar to Instagram’s heart button, although the total number of likes will remain private.

Furthermore, WhatsApp has indicated that it plans to introduce more features for Status and the Updates tab in the coming months.

In related news, reports have surfaced about WhatsApp testing a redesigned typing indicator for both personal and group chats.

Recently, WhatsApp announced a new feature that allows users to change the background or add filters during video calls, enhancing the personal touch of conversations.

Today, we’re rolling out filters and backgrounds to make your video calls even more engaging.” These new effects aim to create a playful atmosphere, enabling users to either add vibrant colors or achieve a more artistic look.

With the background feature, users can maintain privacy and transport themselves to a cozy coffee shop or a tidy living room, providing a cleaner and more polished appearance.
