Islamabad, Oct 28: WhatsApp to Introduce Link Verification for Forwarded Messages. One of the most popular messaging apps, WhatsApp, keeps improving its security features to keep users safe. Tools like automated spam identification and timely security notifications are already available in the Meta-owned app.
The app is currently launching a beta function that lets users utilize Google Search to confirm links in messages. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.24.22.19 now has this feature.
The option toward the bottom is visible in the screenshot below. Users can now check almost any link on WhatsApp, not just ones that are shared frequently, thanks to the new “link info” feature.
Users can access this by long-pressing on a link that has been provided or received in WhatsApp. This will cause a “Get link info on Google” option to appear beneath “Copy link” and “Open link.” By choosing this option, the Google app’s search is launched, providing pertinent details about the chosen URL and facilitating the avoidance of dubious connections.
WABetaInfo first determined that this functionality was restricted to often forwarded links that offered a “Search on the web” option for more information. But according to the most recent update, all links seem to have access to this safety feature. Both have different functions and may coexist, however it’s unclear if the more traditional “Search on Web” option will continue to be available.
As previously said, it is uncertain when the revised link verification mechanism will be made widely available as it is presently only in beta.
