Islamabad, Feb 17: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) successfully intercepted a human trafficking attempt at Karachi Airport, preventing four women from traveling to Saudi Arabia under the false pretense of performing Umrah. The operation, carried out by the immigration team, resulted in the women—Shazia Bano, Zameera Azeem, Lubna, and Sana Shahzadi—being offloaded from their flight.
FIA officials disclosed that the women were being sent to Saudi Arabia for forced labor by a former policewoman from Punjab, identified as Asia. She had reportedly financed their travel plans. Another individual, Waseem Gujjar, was allegedly involved in assisting their arrival in Saudi Arabia. It was also revealed that the women had previously traveled abroad, which raised suspicion about the nature of their journey.
In another operation, FIA immigration authorities detained two men, Ilyas and Rayan, upon their arrival at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport. Both individuals were traveling on emergency passports, and their citizenship status raised concerns. The two men were promptly transferred to the FIA’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle for further investigation.

This successful intervention highlights the FIA’s ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and safeguard vulnerable individuals from exploitation. The agency’s swift actions at the airport prevented what could have been a dangerous situation for the women involved. Furthermore, the detention of the two passengers traveling on suspicious documents underscores the importance of thorough checks in detecting potential human trafficking activities.
The FIA continues to intensify its operations to identify and stop such crimes, ensuring that those involved in exploiting individuals for forced labor or other illegal activities are held accountable. The agency’s vigilance at major airports like Karachi has proven crucial in protecting victims and preventing criminal activities.
