Islamabad, Apr 10, 2025: The World Ball and Dek Hockey Federation has confirmed that Pakistan will host the Ball and Dek Hockey World Cup in February 2026.

The announcement was made by Federation President Jaroslav Melisek, who expressed the aim of organisation to expand the reach of sport in new regions.

Melisek highlighted the growing interest of Pakistan in the sport, stating that awarding the World Cup to the country was a strategic move to boost its popularity.

He appreciated the efforts of Inamul Haq Khan, President of the Federation Pakistan Chapter, for actively promoting the sport locally.

According to Melisek, the 2026 edition is expected to feature at least 12 teams from across the globe.

He also pointed out that the event will follow closely after the 14th South Asian Games, which Pakistan is planning to host in January 2026.

“The World Cup will take place immediately after the South Asian Games, creating back-to-back sporting excitement in the country,” he noted.

Inamul Haq welcomed the decision, saying it was a significant opportunity for Pakistan to showcase its potential as a host nation for international events.

He added that Melisek’s visit is likely to boost Pakistan’s standing in the global sporting community.

Earlier on Wednesday, the visiting delegation held a meeting with Pakistan Sports Board Director General Yasir Peerzada.

During the meeting, Peerzada assured the delegation of full cooperation from the government and the Board to ensure a successful World Cup.

The announcement is seen as a positive step for Pakistan’s sports ecosystem, offering a chance to host a global event while introducing a new sport to a wider audience.

Preparations are expected to begin soon, with further details about the venues and participating nations to be announced in the coming months.
