Islamabad, Sep 23: Romina Khurshid Alam, the Prime Minister’s Climate Change Coordinator, has announced that Pakistan will soon see the opening of its first Green-Tech Hub (G-TH), a cutting-edge facility designed to revolutionize the nation’s energy landscape and lower carbon emissions by promoting green technologies, renewable energy sources, and environmentally friendly innovations.
The PM’s coordinator further stated that the G-TH, an initiative backed by the Government of Pakistan in collaboration with private sector stakeholders, academic institutions, and international green technology leaders, aims to position the country as a regional leader in sustainable innovation. She was speaking as a chief guest at a webinar on “Creation of G-TH,” which was organized by Paklaunch.com in collaboration with the climate change & environmental coordination ministry.
During the two-week UN-led global climate summit (COP29), she disclosed during her speech that the ministry responsible for climate change and environmental coordination is also working to exhibit extremely inventive and significant projects at the Pakistan Pavilion. Azerbaijan’s Baku is set to host the climate summit on November 11–12, with between 40,000 and 50,000 representatives from over 192 countries anticipated to attend.
In order to help Pakistan meet its objectives for environmental sustainability and climate resilience, Romina Khurshid Alam stated that showcasing the efforts at the next UN-led global climate conference intends to draw possible local and international investors to finance the projects.
Among other crucial issues of adaptation, mitigation, technology transfer, and technical know-how, the world’s leaders at this year’s annual global climate conference the second-largest assembly of head of state, international leaders, and members of civil society after the UN General Assembly (UNGA) will work to finalize the first enhanced transparency framework and establish a new collective quantified goal on climate finance.
In order to leverage climate finance for the creative projects on display at the Pakistan Pavilion during the COP29 meeting and to draw in foreign and local investment for these climate resilience projects, we hope that GTH will serve as a strategic connector, connecting Pakistani innovators worldwide with global investors.
Additionally, MoCC&EC would help these climate technology initiatives connect with Pakistan’s aims for mitigation and adaptation, according to Romina Khurshid said. She emphasized that green technology is the way of the future and that Pakistan’s intellect, ambition, and inventiveness would be embodied in the G-TH.
The coordinator for PM said, “We are honored to be a part of this journey and look forward to seeing the breakthroughs that emerge from this center in the future.” According to Ms. Alam, “The hub will function as a research center for cutting-edge technologies, an incubator for green startups, and a collaborative space for innovators and entrepreneurs focused on addressing environmental challenges.”

Aisha Humera Ch., Secretary of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, stated that the nation urgently needs technology and technical know-how transfer (which is also covered by CoP streams) to encourage the use of green energy sources and lower sector carbon footprints in order to meet the nation’s goals for environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
She also stressed that GTH, which intends to highlight Pakistan’s capacity to seize new opportunities and preparedness for investment in a green-tech carbon credit policy framework, is almost ready and will present opportunities for individuals operating in various fields related to green energy technology.
The secretary, Aisha Humera Ch, expressed hope that the G-TH would significantly contribute to cultivating a narrative that portrays Pakistan as a nation of problem solvers, even though the country still needs investment and the launch of joint green energy and green technology-related ventures on a public-private partnership basis.
She stressed that every effort would be taken to ensure that the G-TH collaborates closely with regional businesses, academic institutions, and global environmental organizations in order to create alliances that hasten the creation and use of environmentally beneficial solutions.
The ministry secretary claimed that by bringing together influential figures from the business, government, and academic sectors, the G-TH would be in a better position to fortify Pakistan’s energy security, quicken its shift to a low-carbon economy, and establish Pakistan as a major player in the global green technology arena.
The speaker emphasized that Pakistan is committed to promoting and utilizing green energy technologies, as evidenced by the numerous companies operating in the electric vehicle (EV), solar solutions, artificial intelligence, smart metering, early warning systems, and other related fields.
In the meantime, the secretary emphasized that the G-TH would be a premier innovation hub since it would provide conference rooms, testing areas, co-working spaces, and research labs to support teamwork and creativity.
