Islamabad, Oct 1: World Culture Festival: Dance and drama take centre stage on day four
The World Culture Festival 2024 captivated audiences on its fourth day with mesmerizing theatre and electrifying dance performances at the Arts Council of Pakistan on Sunday.
The tranquil evening kicked off with the play “Waiting for a Train,” beautifully executed by international artists from Kosovo, Kushtrim B Mehmeti and Mehmeti Preteni, in Auditorium 1.
The narrative centers on two travelers united by a common goal but separated by their differences, as they wait at an isolated station.
The play’s theme reflects on how “trains come and go, but they always miss them, sometimes due to their own mistakes and sometimes due to unseen forces.” As the station becomes increasingly empty, the question remains: will they ever find their way out?
The description of the play poses thought-provoking questions: “What if beyond these walls of fear and despair lie hope, survival, and the strength to overcome?
It challenges us to recognize the hero within ourselves, highlighting that the barriers separating us from goodness and virtue are of our own creation, prompting us to reflect on our truth and consider how we can rewrite it.
At the outset of the “Dance with Peace” progarmme, South Africa’s Jazzart Dance Theatre enraptured the audience with innovative and powerful choreography.
