Islamabad, Aug 28: As part of its ambitious aim to become a “everything app,” X is developing a new feature that seems to put the requirements of the company before those of the customers. The video conferencing service called “X Conference,” which appears to be a direct rival to well-known platforms like Zoom, is presently being tested by the social media behemoth.
Chris Park, a worker at X, revealed information regarding the internal testing conducted on the platform to reveal this new feature.
Park has provided material that suggests X Conference is still in its early phases of development. The application only provides rudimentary multi-person video conferencing capabilities; it is not as feature rich as well-known services like Zoom or Google Meet.
Park claims that X Conference would soon get some noteworthy updates. He said that features like improved notifications and the option to pin speakers would probably be added soon. According to Park, the technology is already a strong rival to well-known services like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, AWS Chime, and Google Hangouts.
App researcher Nima Owji offered further information about X Conference earlier this month. Owji posted a screenshot showing that built-in subtitles and spatial audio support are anticipated for the platform. Even with these amazing features, X Conference might not be able to stand out in a crowded market.
There are still concerns regarding the need for yet another video conferencing application, even with the employees of X expressing their excitement and the adoption of these services. It’s unclear when exactly X intends to make this capability available to end consumers.
