Islamabad, Dec 30: Xiaomi is gearing up for the launch of its flagship Xiaomi 16, which is expected to feature significant upgrades, including the addition of a periscope telephoto lens. This long-awaited feature will address a notable gap in its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15, which lacked this advanced zoom technology. The periscope lens is known for its ability to bend light at a 90-degree angle, allowing for superior optical zoom without compromising image quality, positioning the Xiaomi 16 as a strong contender in the premium smartphone market.

In terms of design, the Xiaomi 16 will likely retain the 6.36-inch compact screen size that was well-received in the Xiaomi 13. This smaller form factor provides a more pocket-friendly option compared to larger flagship smartphones. While specifics about the Xiaomi 16 are still limited, it is expected to build on the foundation of the Xiaomi 15, featuring a 1.5K AMOLED flat TCL C8 LTPO display, the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 4610 mAh battery with 90W wired fast charging, and a 50MP triple-camera system with Leica optics.

Alongside the Xiaomi 16, Xiaomi is also preparing to launch the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Expected to debut shortly after the 2025 Chinese New Year in February, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will boast a larger 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a micro-curved design. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and run on Android 15-based HyperOS 2.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will feature an impressive quad-camera setup with 50MP, 50MP, 50MP, and 200MP sensors, offering advanced photography capabilities. Additionally, it will likely include a robust 6,000 mAh battery with support for 90W wired and 80W wireless charging. The device is also expected to include an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for faster unlocking, adding to its premium features.
