Islamabad, Dec 30: Xiaomi’s SU7 electric sedan has achieved a remarkable milestone in China, surpassing 130,000 units in deliveries within just nine months of its launch. This impressive feat exceeds the company’s initial adjusted annual delivery target, highlighting the strong demand for the vehicle in the competitive Chinese market.
Launched on March 28, 2023, with a price range of 215,900–229,900 yuan ($29,600–$31,500), the SU7 generated significant attention when it secured 50,000 orders in just 27 minutes of its debut. Although the initial production faced some hurdles, Xiaomi quickly scaled up its manufacturing capabilities, increasing monthly production to 20,000 units by June. This ramp-up helped propel the sedan’s rapid delivery pace.
The SU7 made an impressive start, delivering 10,000 units in its first month of sales. Over the following 198 days, Xiaomi delivered an additional 90,000 units, and another 30,000 units were sold in just 45 days, bringing total deliveries to 130,000 by December 28, 2023. The vehicle’s performance was particularly strong in December, with 16,328 units sold, as reported by China EV DataTracker, an exceptional result for a vehicle less than a year old.
To further boost its production and meet the growing demand, Xiaomi plans to launch its second-phase car plant in 2024. In addition, the company has announced plans to introduce two new models in 2025: the SU7 Ultra sedan with a three-motor configuration and the Xiaomi YU7 crossover, which are expected to strengthen Xiaomi’s position in the domestic electric vehicle market.
