Islamabad, Oct 28: Younis Khan Offers His Services to Karachi, Ready to Boost Cricket in the City
Younis Khan, the former captain of Pakistan, said he is “always ready to serve” both the city and cricket in Karachi, demonstrating his dedication to the sport.
During the Karachi Premier League (KPL) launch event, Khan talked about his early days in the sport. He recalled playing for Karachi at the U-14, U-16, and U-19 levels and mentioned how difficult it is to get into Karachi’s competitive first-class team.
“The KPL can be a turning point for grassroots cricket,” says Khan, who believes the league has the ability to revolutionize grassroots cricket. He expressed hope that the competition may uncover bright young talents and provide them a stage.
The city’s best young cricket players will be on display when the Karachi Premier League kicks off on November 1.
After being appointed head coach of the Bangla Tigers, Younis Khan will focus on the next season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
If Younis can establish his credentials in franchise cricket circles, the Pakistan Cricket Board might consider him as a potential candidate for the position of white-ball head coach, which is now open for selection. The 2009 T20 World Cup winning skipper could be the final component needed to bring Pakistani cricket back to its former glory.
