The 2025 BMW M2, like its larger M3 sedan and M4 coupe siblings, receives a power boost for the new model year. Despite this enhancement, the current high-performance 2 Series model remains the most capable and comfortable M2 yet, offering immense enjoyment at a surprisingly reasonable starting price. BMW wisely maintains the essence of this exceptional car while adding more power, a rare move for mid-life refreshes, where changes typically revolve around styling and features. The 2025 M2’s 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine now boasts 473 hp, a 20-hp increase, while torque remains at 406 lb-ft with the standard six-speed gearbox.

Opting for the eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission, at no extra cost, unlocks even more torque, totaling 442 lb-ft. Although BMW doesn’t specify the source of the power increase, it’s likely attributed to enhancements in the engine and transmission software. With the added power, the manual transmission variant shaves 0.1 seconds off its zero-to-60-mph time, now claiming 4.1 seconds, while the eight-speed automatic can achieve it in as little as 3.9 seconds. These figures appear conservative compared to actual tests, where the previous models achieved faster acceleration.

The top speed remains limited to 155 mph unless equipped with the optional M Driver’s Package, which extends it to 177 mph. In terms of aesthetics, the 2025 M2 offers a wider range of paint options and wheel finishes, while the interior receives minor updates in materials and user software, including a new flat-bottomed leather steering wheel and upgraded infotainment system running on BMW OS 8.5. The base MSRP for the 2025 M2 starts at $66,075, reflecting a modest increase compared to previous models, yet still offering exceptional value for its performance capabilities.
