He expressed confidence that the right-handed batter, often hailed as one of the modern greats, would soon return to his best.

Richards remarked that even the most accomplished players face difficult phases in their careers, and this was simply one such period for Babar.

On the broader state of Pakistan cricket, the legendary cricketer reflected that every team endures highs and lows.

He praised Pakistan’s rich cricketing talent and believed that, with proper guidance and support, the team would soon rediscover its winning ways.

In a related development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly exploring options for a new head coach.

Former New Zealand coach and ex-RCB Director of Cricket, Mike Hesson, is among the top contenders.

Others reportedly under consideration include Australia’s Simon Katich and New Zealand’s batting coach Luke Ronchi.

The coaching role has remained unfilled since interim coach Aaqib Javed stepped down following Pakistan’s underwhelming Champions Trophy 2025 campaign.
