Islamabad, Sep 21: People celebrated the 98th anniversary of the birth of the renowned vocalist and actress Malika-e-Tarannum Madam Noor Jehan. Born into a musical family in Kasur, Punjab in 1926, she recorded almost 10,000 songs in multiple languages, including Sindhi, Urdu, and Punjabi.

In addition, she demonstrated her acting prowess in the movies Chan Way, Dopatta, Mirza Ghalib, Qaidi, Baaji, and Khandaan. The national patriotic songs of Malika-e-Tarannum, sung during the 1965 Pakistan-India conflict, are a significant aspect of our history.

She was given several honors, including as the Presidential Pride of Performance Award, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and the Lifetime Achievement Award.After passing away on December 23, 2000, Noor Jehan was buried in Karachi.
