Islamabad, Oct 10: AIOU and Sheher Saaz Sign MoU to Enhance Disaster Awareness Initiatives. International Disaster Day was organized by ORIC Allama Iqbal Open University in collaboration with Islamabad Fire Brigade, Rescue 1122 and the welfare organization Sheher Saaz a seminar.
Disaster sensitisation was the theme of the event where fire putting out by the Fire Brigade, Fire Brigade and transport of injured, CPR demonstrated by the Rescue 1122 were shown live.
At the ceremony, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sheher Saaz and AIOU for the starting an awareness programme regarding disaster was sinned.The agreement was signed between the university’s Registrar, Raja Umar Younas and Sheher Saaz’s Executive Director Almas Shakoor.
During the occasion, Director Administration, Professor Dr. Syed Amir Shah said that humans in their capacity as vicegerents of Allah seek success in making others successful and get their maximum pleasure in serving others in times of suffering.
Sheher Saaz’s Executive Director Almas Shakoor illustrated their disaster awareness campaigns in educational institutions by explaining the need to minimize loss.Sheher Saaz also provided sets of first aid not just to the University Medical Center. Participant Bibi Yasmeen contributed a story of rescuing a bird which she later correlate with protection when she had a near escape from a kitchen fire.
The last speaker was Dr. Saima Nasir who thanked all the participants, and to the Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood for providing all possible support to conduct the seminar.She also stressed that under the Vice-Chancellors vision and direction ORIC remains to stage awareness seminars on intellectual property and training workshops for students and this is one such exercise.
