Due to the building of a new pipeline, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has stated that the gas supply to the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and Korangi districts will be suspended. The company claims that the new gas distribution pipeline project will have an impact on gas delivery at two crucial locations as it extends from Azeempura to Jam Sadiq Bridge. On June 23, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., the whole Korangi region including residential and commercial districts as well as DHA and the communities that surround it will be without gas supplies.
Defence View, Manzoor, Akhtar, Kashmir, Mehmoodabad, Azam Basti, Qayyumabad, DHA Phase 2 Extension, Phase 4 and Extension, Phase 5 and Extension, Phase 7 and Extension, and Phase 8 encompassing Creek Vista and Emaar are among the impacted localities. The SSGC increased its efforts earlier this week to stop gas theft by conducting raids in Sindh and Balochistan’s residential regions. 770 illegal gas connections were removed as a result of these operations, and formal complaints were filed against people who stole gas for profit.
Teams tasked with preventing theft in Karachi broke up 570 illicit home connections in Liaquatabad and Federal B Area. During the raids, numerous illegally extended gas connections that the occupants had obtained were disconnected. Additionally, a North Karachi bakery owner was the target of a formal complaint after connecting his generator to the gas line without permission.
