Islamabad, Apr 30, 2025: A major crisis has emerged in government schools across Hafizabad, where a significant delay in textbook distribution is severely affecting students’ education.

This disruption is believed to stem from inefficiencies within the Punjab Textbook Board.

Although the new academic year began weeks ago, only a small fraction—about 20%—of schoolchildren have received the free textbooks promised by the government.

The overwhelming majority, nearly 80%, are still waiting for their learning materials, forcing families to purchase them privately.

This unexpected situation has become a major challenge for parents already coping with inflated daily expenses.

With the prices of basic needs rising, the added responsibility of buying textbooks has pushed many households to the edge.

Parents are voicing their concerns, saying this ongoing issue is damaging their children’s educational growth and well-being.

A distressed parent reported that his child, along with many classmates, attends school empty-handed—without the essential books required for daily lessons.

He explained that without access to proper textbooks, students are unable to understand lessons fully or complete assignments at home.

This not only lowers their academic output but also adds significant emotional strain and financial hardship on families struggling to keep up.

Education experts stress that immediate action is needed from the concerned authorities. Without timely intervention, a generation of students could fall behind academically due to poor planning and slow response from education officials.

Many are urging the Punjab Textbook Board to take swift steps to resolve the shortage and ensure every student receives the required study materials without further delay.

Parents and teachers alike are demanding a transparent and efficient system that guarantees timely delivery of textbooks every academic year.
