Islamabad, Oct 10: Board of Revenue Reports Lahore Hosts 171 Illegal and 423 Legal Housing Societies. Major findings The Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) unveiled key observations about Lahore’s property market. At the moment, only 423 housing societies have licenses to operate within the city’s boundaries, The rest 171 are unauthorized residential colonies.

During its budget session, the SMBR highlighted that all private housing societies in existence should be linked with the PLRA to deal with numerous fraud-related problems. The SMBR pointed out another issue that the sale of fake plots had become common, a situation that exposes the buyers to the next plot. This way, this initiative seeks to improve the transparency in this real estate market sector, as well as the rights of property owners in Lahore.

A targeted meeting chaired by Punjab’s Senior Member Board of Revenue Nabeel Javed was joined by member colonies Abdul Waheed Malik, member taxes Zaman Wattoo, Secretary housing Tayyab Fareed, Special Secretary local government Muhammad Arshal Baig and Del Limited Agency director general Tahir Farooq.

In this session Javed once again emphasized on linking all the private sector housing societies to the PLRA for countering fraudulent activities such as the unauthorised sale of plots. Javed also directed the director general of the LDA to collect detailed information of housing societies all over the province. He urged for immediate issue of NOCs to societies which are affected, stated that any deviation from government norms would attract legal action to protect public money.
