Islamabad, Oct 12: British Council Unveils 2024 ‘Your World’ Video Competition, Aiming to Equip Youth with Sustainability Skills. A dynamic forum for children across its Partner Schools network, has officially announced the 2024 edition of its annual “Your World” film competition.

Young, imaginative minds are invited to enter this competition and show off their skills by making creative social action videos that tackle important global issues.Following the triumph of the previous year, in which Cadet College Hasanabdal defeated over 90 schools nationwide to win the national title, the tournament for 2024–2025 has as its theme “Skills for Sustainability: Equipping All Youth for the Future.”

This theme is in line with the fourth Sustainable Development Goal of the UN, which highlights the value of high-quality education and fostering an international dialogue on sustainability. For British Council Partner Schools worldwide, the “Your World” competition is a flagship program that gives pupils a rare chance to apply their creativity, problem-solving skills, and digital literacy on a global scale.

Through their movies, participants will also have the opportunity to share a glimpse into their communities and lived experiences. “We support peace and prosperity by building connections, understanding, and trust between people in the UK and around the world,” said Amanda Ingram, Director of Exams at the British Council Pakistan.

The British Council, which has over 75 years of experience in Pakistan, provides young, imaginative people with a forum through the Your World competition to share their viewpoints, bringing attention to important global challenges and investigating sustainable techniques for a brighter future.

The previous year’s award ceremonies took place in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Notable guest speakers included Amsal Naeem, a filmmaker and photographer from Islamabad; Mr. Zahid Ali Abbas, Secretary Pakistani Education and Literacy Department, Karachi; and Kanwal Khoosat, director and producer, Lahore. 92 schools took part in all, and students learned a great deal from professionals in the field about how to create visually engaging stories. This set a high bar for future participants.

Students who compete will sharpen their critical thinking abilities, apply their knowledge to real-world issues, and acquire key leadership and communication skills. They will become more socially conscious and aware of cultural differences as a result of this competition, which will enrich their educational experience.

Students in British Council Partner Schools between the ages of 14 and 17 are eligible to enter the competition.
