Islamabad, Nov 4: Abdul Aleem Khan, the Federal Minister for Privatization, stated that he was in charge of selling Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and that the best course of action will be taken in this respect.

He said that the interim administration has created a framework for the PIA’s privatization.

He claimed that all of these things had already occurred before he took over his office

Aleem claimed he was powerless to alter the privatization framework.

There existed a privatization process that allowed him to privatize anything.

He claimed that it was his duty to sell PIA and not to steer it in the proper direction.

That he was also receiving recommendations from a former minister of privatization

and that he ought to have put those recommendations into effect when he was still minister.

He asserted that the PIA could not be sold for a pittance because it was a national asset.

According to Abdul Aleem Khan, he was in Riyadh on the day of the PIA bidding, attending a meeting with the Saudi Investment Minister.

According to him, there were two meetings on the day of the PIA bidding: the CCOP meeting and the privatization commission meeting, which he chaired.

“If the governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh want to purchase the PIA together, we have no objections,” he stated.

“The PIA has the best timings for international routes,” the minister stated.

Aleem Khan said that the National Highway Authority would earn a profit of Rs 50 billion in a single year.

He predicted that NHA revenue would increase from Rs 64 billion to Rs 110 billion this year.

which could draw in additional buyers.

According to the minister, Pakistan Post has saved Rs 2.8 billion by eliminating 3,500 positions.

In response to a query, he stated that there are now 34–35 memorandums of understanding with Saudi Arabia, up from 27 previously.

The nation knows very well that every past government contributed indiscriminately to bring PIA to this stage.

He said that we have more options regarding the privatisation of PIA.

The government can also take out the remaining 200 billion rupees liabilities of this Institution and give a “Clean PIA”.
