Islamabad, Oct 8: Chief Minister’s Message on National Disaster Awareness Day: Emphasizes Preparedness and Community Resilience. Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab, has underlined the significance of preparation and awareness raising in order to lessen the effects of natural disasters.
The Chief Medical Officer (CM) made the following statement on Tuesday, National Disaster knowledge Day: “Better planning and awareness can significantly reduce the damage caused by natural calamities.” She also advocated for greater preventive measures.
The chief minister emphasized the need of having a strong early warning system and gave the assurance that the Punjab government will use all of its resources to deal with natural disasters. “In order to guarantee prompt responses during emergencies, safety protocols are being strengthened and rescue services are being modernized,” she continued.
CM Maryam Nawaz underlined the necessity of public knowledge on the risks of natural calamities, asking citizens to accept common responsibility in enacting precautionary measures.
She prayed, “May Allah protect everyone from all kinds of calamities.”
The earthquake, which measured 7.6 on the Richter scale, left over 80,000 people dead and more than 100,000 injured, while causing widespread destruction to infrastructure across AJK, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and parts of northern Pakistan.
Across the country, the day began with special prayers during Fajr at mosques for the departed souls. The AJK government has declared a gazetted holiday throughout the state in remembrance of the victims. The central ceremony to mark the anniversary is taking place in Muzaffarabad, the epicenter of the 2005 quake.
