Islamabad, Oct 14: Chinese PM Likely to Inaugurate Gwadar International Airport During Upcoming Visit. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced that Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang is expected to formally open the Gwadar Airport in Balochistan during his visit from October 14 to 17.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, which is set for October 15 and 16 in Islamabad and will bring together delegates from nine member nations, including China, India, Iran, and Russia, is precisely when Li is visiting. According to the Civil Aviation Authority, Gwadar International Airport is expected to grow into one of Pakistan’s biggest airports, serving both domestic and international travel.
While in Pakistan, Li is expected to perform the ceremonial launch of the long-awaited Gwadar International Airport a project geared at improving connectivity and trade. This work is one of the plans in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework aimed at enhancing cooperation between China and Pakistan.
Under development to provide accommodation to improved air traffic and for enabling cargo operations, the Gwadar International airport is based in the port city of Gwadar.
