Islamabad, Oct 31: CNG Stations Closing Down Nationwide Amid Energy Shift. As part of its winter gas load management plan, the Federal Ministry of Petroleum has decided to shut down all of Pakistan’s CNG stations in December and January. The goal of this action is to provide natural gas priority for domestic consumption in the winter.

This proposal also calls for a two-month supply halt for companies that use gas to generate electricity. From December 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025, the Sui Northern Gas Company Limited (SNGCL) has been directed to carry out these closures, which will impact Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and other areas with captive power plants.

The yearly 5% drop in gas production was cited by officials as the reason for this decision during a meeting presided over by Petroleum Minister Musadik Malik.

To guarantee a continuous supply of gas for houses, CNG stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh would be shuttered for the first two months of winter, despite the fact that gas is generated in these regions.
