LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore Director General Amjad Majeed Aulakh announced an ongoing crackdown on illegal housing schemes in the city and its surrounding areas.

NAB Lahore recently held a monthly open court at its Thokar Niaz Baig headquarters, attended by around 400 real estate affectees. Mr. Aulakh personally heard their grievances and issued directives for action.

The affectees from various housing schemes—including Khayaban-e-Amin, Pak-Arab, Professional Cooperative Housing Society, Al-Falah, Prime Zone, New Lahore City, Al-Rehman Garden Phase-4, La Villa De Paris, Toyota Motors Gujranwala, Greater Lahore Cooperative Society, and Airport Avenue Housing Society Sialkot—sought resolution and compensation for their losses.

Mr. Aulakh assured the affectees of Khayaban-e-Amin that NAB’s top priority was to secure their plots and apartments as promised. He mentioned that if necessary, NAB would collaborate with the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to oversee the society’s development.

Regarding the Pak-Arab Housing Society, Mr. Aulakh instructed the investigation team to prompt the LDA to take immediate action based on the victims’ complaints. He also ordered that the judiciary be approached to cancel the bail of non-compliant accused individuals. “NAB is taking steps to return the victims’ money by selling the properties of the accused,” he added.

For the Professional Cooperative Housing Society, Mr. Aulakh issued orders to sell the owners’ properties to compensate the victims.

Addressing Prime Zone victims, Mr. Aulakh stated that NAB had frozen 300 kanals of land associated with the administration. “The investigation is progressing quickly, with claims from 1,564 victims amounting to Rs830 million.”

In the case of Al-Rehman Garden Phase-4, the DG ordered immediate summoning of the accused, emphasizing NAB’s efforts to provide plots to the victims.

Mr. Aulakh advised New Lahore City affectees to promptly register their complaints with the NAB Complaints Cell. For the Al-Falah Cooperative Housing Society, he ordered immediate disciplinary action by the investigation team.

Discussing La Villa De Paris, Mr. Aulakh highlighted that the project administration was willing to refund the victims in full.

For Toyota Motors Gujranwala victims, the DG noted that despite efforts to auction the accused’s properties, success had been limited. However, he assured that asset delivery to the victims would commence following the sale of these properties.

Finally, Mr. Aulakh ordered that complaints from Lahore Cooperative Housing, Airport Avenue Housing Society Sialkot, and QLinks Properties affectees be forwarded to the relevant registrar cooperatives for disciplinary action.
