Islamabad, Feb 10: The Philadelphia Eagles made a dominant statement in Super Bowl LIX, crushing the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in New Orleans and preventing the Chiefs from claiming a third consecutive championship.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was the star of the show, earning Super Bowl MVP honors for his all-around performance. Hurts threw for 221 yards, completing 17 of 22 passes with two touchdowns, and ran for another score while accumulating 72 rushing yards, avenging the Eagles’ narrow loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.
The Eagles were in full control from the opening whistle, leading 24-0 at halftime. The game effectively ended early in the third quarter when Hurts connected on a 46-yard bomb to DeVonta Smith, putting the Eagles ahead 34-0, a lead too insurmountable for Kansas City to overcome.

While Hurts’ performance was electric, it was the Eagles’ defense that truly set the tone. The defense put constant pressure on Patrick Mahomes, sacking him six times and forcing two interceptions. Kansas City’s offense struggled to find its rhythm, especially in the run game, managing just 24 rushing yards on seven carries.
The Chiefs showed some signs of life in the second half as Mahomes threw three touchdown passes, two to Xavier Worthy, who had a stellar 157-yard performance. DeAndre Hopkins also added a touchdown, but by that time, the Eagles had already sealed the victory.
For the Eagles, this victory solidifies their place among the NFL’s elite teams, with Hurts at the helm. After two years of heartbreak, they finally exacted revenge in emphatic fashion. As for the Chiefs, they still boast one of the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks and will be hungry for another championship run next season.
