Islamabad, Apr 14, 2025: Light seismic tremors were experienced in Quetta and nearby regions on Monday, sparking brief concern among residents.

As per the latest update from the National Seismological Center, the earthquake registered a magnitude of 3.0 on the Richter scale and struck at a depth of 12 kilometers beneath the earth’s surface.

The public noticed the shaking, which lasted only a few seconds but was strong.

Authorities determined the epicenter of the quake to be roughly 90 kilometers west of Quetta, near the provincial border zone.

Residents in the area felt a sudden jolt around midday, causing minor alarm and prompting people to step out of buildings momentarily as a safety measure.

Fortunately, authorities have not reported any damage to infrastructure or loss of life so far.

Emergency officials have confirmed that no significant harm has occurred. Many locals expressed relief after the tremors subsided without leading to any disaster.

In a statement issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), officials confirmed that their teams are actively monitoring the situation.

“There is no cause for panic. Everything is under control, and our response teams are on alert in case of any aftershocks,” said a PDMA representative.

Experts explain that mild tremors are common in this seismically active region, and citizens should always remain informed about basic earthquake safety protocols.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid sharing unverified information on social media and to stay tuned to official updates.

The incident highlights the importance of continued preparedness and swift communication in minimizing risk and panic during such natural events.

Local law enforcement and emergency responders are also coordinating to ensure public safety and provide any needed assistance.

Although the tremor was not destructive, it served as a reminder of the area’s vulnerability to geological disturbances.

Regular drills, updated infrastructure plans, and community awareness are vital to ensuring safety in the event of stronger quakes in the future.

Life in Quetta has returned to normal for now, and authorities have not reported any further seismic activity.
