Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Ethiopia’s Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary to Pakistan, met with Federal Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan to make the decision.Both parties talked about issues of mutual interest during the discussion, such as bilateral collaboration to increase trade between the two nations that have a long history of fraternal ties.
Following the opening of the Ethiopian Mission in Islamabad, Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker highlighted the expanding bilateral collaboration in several fields, including trade, finance, culture, aviation, science, and technology.
Citing recently signed Memoranda of Understanding in the fields of business, trade, investment, aviation, science, and technology, the launch of Ethiopian Airlines’ operations in Karachi, and the exchange of delegations from the business, trade, aviation, education, health, and cultural sectors, he claimed that the two countries’ bilateral relations were on the rise.
The ambassador gave the minister an update on Ethiopia’s Home Grown Economic Reforms, which have addressed macroeconomic imbalances, increased productivity, made conducting business easier, and created an atmosphere that is favorable for luring foreign direct investment.
He emphasized the importance of the Single Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa, which would link Pakistani traders with their Ethiopian counterparts and with the African market, saying Ethiopia is a gateway to Africa, a vast market with a population of over 1.4 billion. However, Jam Kamal Khan stated that the Pakistani Trade Development Authority and the Ministry of Commerce are preparing everything needed for the Addis Ababa Single Country Exhibition.
According to him, the government of Pakistan is dedicated to the Look Africa and Engage Africa Policy and has been doing everything in its power to improve ties with African nations, particularly Ethiopia, which is the continent’s growth engine and has recorded steady economic growth under the direction of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed.
