Islamabad, 28 Apr, 2025: Europe’s New Biometric system is set to reshape the way non-EU travelers cross European borders, beginning in October 2025.

Under the new Entry/Exit System (EES), visitors from countries such as Pakistan, the United States, England, South Africa, and Australia will be required to register their fingerprints or have a digital photograph taken when entering the Schengen Zone.

Digital Records to Replace Passport Stamping

The traditional practice of manually stamping passports will be replaced with electronic records through Europe’s New Biometric framework.

Travelers Advised to Plan Ahead

Authorities have urged incoming travelers to allow extra time for crossing borders and to stay informed about any changes to travel regulations.

The introduction of biometric checks is expected to streamline the movement of people in the future, but short-term disruptions are likely as systems adjust and staff are trained.

ETIAS Online Approval to Follow

By 2027, another layer of control will come into effect, requiring most non-EU travelers to seek online travel authorization through the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), similar to the U.S. ESTA program.

His move aims to enhance monitoring and maintain security without causing major delays.

A New Era for European Travel

While the changes are intended to create a more secure and efficient travel experience, officials warn that visitors should brace for temporary delays.
