Islamabad, Aug 20: The “Prime Minister’s Skills Development Company” was authorized by the Federal Cabinet on Tuesday in order to create and oversee funding for technical and vocational education as well as to carry out a range of training initiatives.
In accordance with Section 42 of the Companies Act, 2017, the Federal Cabinet, presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, authorized the company’s formation under the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission. On the advice of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, this decision was made.
The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission’s operational and regulatory tasks were to be clearly defined by the corporation, as per the prime minister’s mandate. Following this, the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission will handle regulatory matters pertaining to technical and vocational training, while the Prime Minister’s Skill Development Company will handle operational matters.
The King Hamad University of Nursing and Associated Medical Sciences’ transfer of operations to the National University of Medical Sciences was approved by the federal cabinet. To formalize this arrangement, the Ministry of National Health Services and the Ministry of Defense will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The decisions made at the August 12, 2024, Cabinet Committee on Government-Owned Institutions were ratified by the Federal Cabinet. Furthermore, the decisions made at the August 15, 2024, meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee have been approved by the Cabinet.
The Supreme Court’s recent decision in the Mubarak Sani case was reported to the Cabinet. It was notified that on August 17, 2024, a second plea pertaining to the Mubarak Sani case was submitted to the Pakistani Supreme Court, per the prime minister’s direction.The National Assembly undertook a thorough discussion on this subject, and the Standing Committee on Law and Justice has been tasked with further examination, the Cabinet was also told.
Both the administration and the opposition parties agreed at the meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Law and Justice that the National Assembly would notify the federal government of the case’s factual and legal aspects as well as the opinions of academics. Additionally, it was decided that the government should file an application.
In this instance, the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Prime Minister spoke over the phone. In compliance with the prime minister’s directives, the government filed a second plea with the Supreme Court after this conversation.
During the hearing of the supplementary petition on August 22, 2024, the prime minister has instructed the Attorney General and his staff to make arguments based on the views of the religious experts and the Standing Committee on Law and Justice of the National Assembly. Regarding this, the Prime Minister has given clear orders.
The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Pakistani Ministry of Commerce and the Uzbek Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade has been approved by the Federal Cabinet. The Ministry of Commerce’s recommendation led to the endorsement of this Memorandum of Understanding, which aims to foster cooperation in the area of electronic commerce, or e-commerce.
