Islamabad, Oct 18: The Pakistan Cricket Board has given a positive update on the ongoing repairs at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore (PCB).

In order to host the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, PCB must accomplish all of its objectives by this year’s deadline of December 31, according to sources.

The stadium will hold 34 thousand spectators overall thanks to the major modifications, which also include the construction of new and improved international standard enclosures for players, officials, commercial partners, and dignitaries that will meet the highest standards set by the International Council of Congress (ICC) for the world’s premier event scheduled for February/March 2025.

A better overall experience will be provided by the installation of LED floodlights, imported chairs, and HD screens around the venue.

PCB is creating new ground dimensions with the fans in consideration as well. To put fans closer to the action, the team is pushing every enclosure forward by 20 feet.

PCB is spending about 7.8 billion PKR of the 12.8 billion PKR budget set to upgrade the stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi on ongoing improvements to Gaddafi Stadium.

Given the significant investment, it appears likely that Lahore will be the focal point of the Champions Trophy, with both the semifinals and the championship game taking place under lights.
