Islamabad, Nov 2: Gemini AI Enhances Google Maps with Smart Features
Google has released a significant update to Maps that includes a number of AI-based features powered by its Gemini AI. The update makes the app a more intelligent travel companion and is being made available to iOS and Android users this week.
Users can now get tailored suggestions for places to visit and things to do thanks to the latest AI advancements. Maps may now create personalized itineraries for individuals or groups in designated regions.
Additionally, the system provides AI-powered summaries of user ratings and can answer specific questions regarding the amenities offered by various locations, such the availability of outdoor seating or the noise levels of the surrounding area.
Along planned itineraries, the redesigned “add stops” tool now recommends landmarks, areas of interest, picturesque vistas, and places to dine. In addition to offering more accurate lane positioning guidance for exits, the navigation interface has been improved to display road signs, crosswalks, and lanes more clearly.
A community-driven weather alert system has also been launched by Google, enabling drivers to report weather-related delays and establishing a real-time information network for other passengers.
Google Maps is launching smart parking assistance, which recognizes parking lots automatically as users get closer to their locations. Complementing this is thorough last-mile navigation, which uses Street View or augmented reality (AR) guidance to provide precise walking directions from parking spaces to venue gates.
Additionally, the update enhances Maps’ Immersive View function, a cutting-edge tool that blends computer vision, artificial intelligence, and photographic imagery. For users’ selected times and places, this system generates comprehensive, context-aware representations of venues like stadiums and parks, along with current traffic patterns and meteorological data.
