Islamabad, Mar 8, 2025: Google has recently raised the cost of its One subscription service in Pakistan.
The Basic plan, which previously offered 100GB of cloud storage for Rs. 219 per month, has now surged to Rs. 419. For those who prefer annual billing, the revised price is Rs. 4,199 per year.
However, subscribers who pay annually will only experience this change on their next renewal date.
A Google One membership provides additional storage across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos, expanding beyond the free 15GB limit available to all accounts.
Higher-tier plans offer exclusive benefits, such as unlimited access to the Magic Editor in Google Photos, Google Workspace Premium, Gemini Advanced, and other advanced tools.
What’s Behind the Price Increase?
Speculation has linked the price surge to Pakistan’s fluctuating exchange rate with the US dollar. However, this assumption is inaccurate for two key reasons.
Firstly, the exchange rate has remained relatively stable over the past few months, making a 100% price jump seem unjustifiable.
Secondly, the updated pricing structure applies globally, affecting over 15 countries, including:
- Australia
- Brazil
- Chile
- Colombia
- Egypt
- Ghana
- Indonesia
- Japan
- Kazakhstan
- Mexico
- Nigeria
- Paraguay
- Peru
- Philippines
- Sri Lanka
- Turkey
- Tanzania
Official Statement from Google
According to Google’s support page, existing subscribers will be billed at the new rate starting March 21, 2025.
Those who wish to avoid paying the increased fee can opt out by canceling their subscription before March 20, 2025.

When approached for clarification, Google’s support team confirmed that the price revision stems from rising costs associated with maintaining secure and reliable cloud storage.
Factors such as infrastructure upgrades, data center expansions, and ongoing feature development have contributed to this decision.
With cloud storage becoming an essential service for many users, this price hike may prompt consumers to reassess their storage needs or explore alternative providers
. However, Google One continues to offer valuable perks that justify its cost for those heavily reliant on cloud services.
