Islamabad, Oct 15: Gulberg and 5 Other LDA Schemes to Undergo Major Transformation Under Smart City Project. The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has received preliminary clearance from the Punjab Chief Minister for a 6 billion PKR project that will turn Gulberg and five other housing projects into sustainable smart city models. On October 15, an agency announced the news in an article.

According to the information, this project is coming at a critical moment as Lahore’s air pollution and population density are getting worse, calling for immediate action to create a more habitable atmosphere. Along with incorporating smart city ideas into the LDA’s housing schemes Harbanspura, Allama Iqbal Town, Sabzazar, Gulberg, MM Alam Road, and LDA Avenue the holistic plan aims to address urgent problems with air, environmental, noise, and water pollution.

Some of the main concerns cover modern traffic control systems, energy-saving utility, heightened public services, and security systems.The other housing schemes anticipated for such developments are Jubilee Town, LDA Avenue 1, Mohlanwal Scheme, Sabzazar Scheme and Model Town Extension.

This project will also include intelligent elements including smart security, smart waste disposal, as well as smart water supply. These enhancements are among the features planned for Lahore Smart City because the compound aims to have the city conform to smart urban standards. This transformation dovetails with the government’s initiative to attain sustainable livable cities and is planned to be attained in stages over the next several years.
