Islamabad, Sep 23: A news article about a 45% increase in the rental cap for government employees that appeared in a segment of the press was refuted on Monday by the Ministry of Housing and Works as being wholly false and deceptive.

The spokesman cited a rumor in the media stating that government employees receive a forty-five percent increase in rent. However, the Ministry of Housing and Works claimed that no such office memorandum had been issued.

It said that the news had been publicized based on a fake and contrived office memo that was making the rounds on social media. The ministry’s Public Relations Officer’s office has previously stated that the aforementioned paper was false.

The ministry’s Estate Office is presently carrying out a survey of market rent rates for residential properties at six designated stations, namely Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta. The survey is not yet complete, and no notifications have been made as of yet.
