Islamabad, Oct 8: IIUI Hosts Seminar on ‘Society, State, and Nationhood in the 21st Century’ on Tuesday. The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI)’s Directorate of Students’ Affairs (DSA) hosted a lecture at the university’s male campus with the theme “Society, State, and Nationhood in the 21st Century.”

This time, the seminar’s chief guest, Brigadier (Retired) Tahir Mehmood, a notable person well-known for his writing and freelancing work for the country’s print media, gave the university students a briefing on the topic of the seminar.

During his lecture, Brigadier (Retired) Tahir Mehmood shed light on the relationship between society, state, and the concept of nationhood within the framework of Pakistan and shared history of the sub-continent. Furthermore, he discussed the historical underpinnings of Pakistani nationhood both prior to and following the establishment of Pakistan.

Brigadier Rtd. Tahir Mehmood, who served in the Pakistan Army for thirty years, was present at the event. He was the Chief Editor of four different monthly periodicals under the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate and the Director of Publications. Among his notable accomplishments are the debut of two new periodicals, one of which is dedicated to the interests of women.

Speaking on the occasion President (IIUI), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar complimented the organizers for conducting the seminar for youth of the university and hoped that in future such seminars would be arranged to further nourish the ambitions of the students studying at campus.

He asserted that as educators are the foundation of nation-building, their function is essential to it. He stated that we should provide respect to each other, respect for the law and humanity, which are fundamental for country building.

Dr. Muhammad Sarwar addressed the seminar attendees, reminding them that since our education shapes our destiny, we should prioritize learning how to coexist peacefully in society.In addition to senior faculty members, the seminar was graced by the Director General of the International Institute of Islamic Economics (IIIE), IIUI Prof. Dr. Abdul Rashed, Dr. Hafiz Ghufran Ahmed, the male student advisor, and Dr. Masood ur Rehman Khattak, the deputy student advisor.

Dr. Hafiz Ghufran Ahmed congratulated the speaker, IIUI leadership and students for participation in the occasion. He promised that the Directorate of Students Affairs would be happy to work toward additional counseling and discourse initiatives. Later, President IIUI Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar was also visited by Brigadier Rtd. Tahir Mehmood.
