Islamabad, Dec 10: Since the implementation of the new visa rules for Dubai, at least 5-6 out of every 100 applications are being rejected daily. This follows stricter requirements imposed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for tourist visa applications. Previously, almost 99 percent of Dubai visa applications were approved, but now even the most carefully prepared submissions are being rejected by UAE authorities, as reported by the Times of India.
The new rules mandate that travelers provide hotel booking documents with QR codes and copies of return tickets. For those staying with relatives, additional proof of accommodation from the host is required. According to Nikhil Kumar, director of Passio Travels Pvt Ltd, the rejection rate has risen from just 1-2 percent to 5-6 rejections per 100 applications since the rules took effect. Even with confirmed flight tickets and hotel bookings, visa applications are being denied.
This surge in visa rejections is creating uncertainty for travelers, who face financial losses from visa fees, flight cancellations, and hotel reservations. Rishikesh Pujari, director of Vihar Travels, noted that even meticulously prepared applications are being rejected. One case involved a family of four who’s carefully assembled documents were still denied.
Additionally, Vijay Thakkar, director of Hasmukh Travels, shared that two passengers, who planned to stay with relatives, had their visa applications rejected despite providing all required documentation, resulting in significant monetary losses.
Under the new UAE policy, travelers must submit hotel booking documents and return tickets on the emigration department’s website, a requirement that was previously only requested by airport officers. Tourists must also prove they have sufficient financial resources, with a minimum balance of AED 5,000 (around Rs 1.14 lakh) for a two-month visa or AED 3,000 for a three-month visa.
