Islamabad, Sep 4: After the recent pronouncements made by Intermediate Boards in Pakistan, a concerning issue has come to light.

These Boards have made the startling mistake of disclosing not just the names of the top-performing students but also their home locations and mobile phones, especially for the female students.

These young ladies are now at risk of harassment and scams, which raises concerns about their safety and privacy due to this negligence.

Concerns about the Boards’ management of student data are widely held in light of the release of such sensitive information. In a nation where social norms and privacy are closely entwined, disclosing personal information—particularly that of female students—carries significant risks.

Unwanted attention, harassment, and even more serious social consequences could result from the revelation. However, pupils were angered by the Karachi Board’s abrupt announcement of the matric exam results on Monday, since different grades on the Board’s website caused confusion and annoyance.

For instance, one student’s score dropped from 715 to zero when they rechecked, and another student’s 700 points were abruptly changed to a failing grade. The Karachi Board was given an order by the Department of Boards and Universities to announce the results by August 30 after they were originally scheduled for July.
