Islamabad, Oct 10: Islamabad High Court Halts PMDC from Publishing Final MDCAT Merit List. Owing to allegations of mistakes in Medicine and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) by the students, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has restrained the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) from announcing the final merit list.

The students also pointed out that 30 questions from a total of 200 were answered in a wrong manner which could prejudice them in getting an admission.Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir passed this order during the filed on Thursday which barred the PMDC to proceed further towards the preparation of merit list. The students also demanded that the medical colleges should stop admitting students.

The court has invited statements from the PMDC and other parties by the 28th of this month as well. This comes after the Sindh High Court summons halted the announcement of the merit list on similar grounds of fraud in the MDCAT exam.

The Sindh court allowed the establishment of the committee that stated its function with the duty of examining the allegations in the said reports for 15 days for the determination of civil and criminal liability.Court has directed the PMDC to submit compliance report on MDCAT management and to reply to the students’ complaints.

The next hearing is to be held later in the month when the court will consider the best and proper action to take. They argue that this ruling has introduced accountability and integrity issues to the admission policies of medical and dental colleges of Pakistan and other experience students and educational stakeholders concerned.
