Islamabad, Sep 23: Pakistan’s humiliating 2-0 rout of Bangladesh at home, former cricket player Kamran Akmal has openly blasted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for its lack of professionalism. Kamran Akmal proposed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) be a model for the PCB.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kamran Akmal conveyed his dissatisfaction with Pakistan cricket’s current situation. “PCB should take a cue from BCCI regarding their professionalism, team, captain, selector, and coaches. These are the attributes that elevate a team to the top and help them rule the globe. There wouldn’t be Pakistan cricket here if we were so excellent. Pakistan cricket is suffering because of your vanity,” he said.
Pakistan has faced increasing difficulties in the last several years when it comes to cricket. The team experienced a string of disappointments, which included losing to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final in 2022 and not making it past the Super 4 round in the following year’s competition. Their problems persisted as they were eliminated early from both the 2023 World Cup and the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Following these setbacks, the PCB made some big adjustments. Months before the T20 World Cup, Babar Azam was reinstalled as the white-ball captain after Shaheen Shah Afridi succeeded him in the position. The team continued to perform inconsistently in spite of these adjustments.
The PCB has announced a high-level Connection Camp with the goal of creating a cohesive vision for Pakistan cricket’s future in light of these ongoing issues. The camp is slated for Monday and will include head coaches Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten in addition to nine players, including Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
