Islamabad, Aug 30: A three-day ban on public access to beaches and coastlines has been enforced by Karachi local authorities due to the possibility of an impending storm.
After numerous warnings from the Meteorological Department and a period of intense rain, the decision was taken. Commissioner Karachi has put Section 144 into effect, making it illegal to enter beaches and other coastal regions between now and August 31.
On the recommendation of the Deputy Commissioners of the South and Kemari districts, the prohibition forbids all beach activities, including swimming, diving, and sightseeing. The prohibition will be severely enforced by the authorities, and those who break it will face harsh penalties.
Over the last 24 hours, Karachi has seen a variety of rainfall totals, with Gulshan Hadeed registering the highest at 62mm.
In the past 48 hours, Gulshan Hadeed has received 128 millimeters of precipitation. Surjani Town recorded 30mm, Nazimabad 26mm, and Kemari 21mm yesterday from August 27 to 5 pm.The following sites have also been reported: Gulshan Mamar 11.1mm, Jinnah Terminal 9.6mm, PAF Masroor Base 9mm, Korangi 8.2mm, Orangi 13.1mm, Saddar 13mm, Meteorological Complex 12.2mm, Old Airport 11.6mm, and Faisal Base 14mm.
