Islamabad, JULY23: Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi will begin a program to plant 140,000 seedlings. The collaboration of the forest department, local government, and private institutions has been promised. Ten thousand seedlings will be planted in each of the deputy commissioners’ districts.
The Commissioner has called on organizations to work together on this planting initiative in order to improve the city’s overall ecology and assist the government in addressing environmental challenges. The goal of the afforestation effort is to contribute to the government’s environmental improvement activities by turning Karachi’s parks, highways, green belts, and other locations green.
Abad, Site Limited Chambers of Commerce and Industries, the Forest Department, Uzma Municipality, KDA, MDA, LDA, Cantonment Boards, DI Site Limited, KPT, Civil Aviation Authority, Mazar Quaid Management Board, Port Qasim Authority, town administrations, and representatives from private and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with an environmental focus were among the attendees of the meeting.
It was determined to stay away from the Cornocarpus plantation and exclusively utilize ecologically favorable plants. Deputy commissioners have already started choosing potential planting sites.
