Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore will be closed for three hours every day during the monsoon season, according to a statement released by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Because of the increased risk of birds at this time, both runways will be closed from 5:00 am to 8:00 am from July 10 to September 10 in order to protect passenger and aircraft safety. All domestic and foreign airlines have received notification of this timetable from the CAA. In an emergency, emergency landing facilities will still be accessible.

An earlier update on the Wildlife Hazard Management Plan’s development was given by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA). It was discovered that last year, bird strikes had an impact on 61 planes.

A PIA official claims that the national airline has lost a lot of money as a result of bird strikes; in the past few months alone, 39 incidences have been documented at domestic airports. It is important to note that Punjab’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning that this year would see 35% higher rainfall than normal. Irfan Ali Kathia, the director general of PDMA, has emphasized how critical it is to finish all preparations before the monsoon season.
